The Protection of Pacechester People responded to the accusations of using scare tactics made by Heather Hayes, a board member of the International Olympics Committee (IOC).
POPP recently released videos and images of residents and that are against bringing the Olympics to Pacechester due to possible harm it could bring to the infrastructure of the village on Twitter. All of the tweets feature the same hashtags: “#MakeitReal”, “ForthePeople”, #ProtectPacechester, and “#StrongerTogether”. They also featured images of people all over the world that were affected by the Olympics.

This initiative started after Christopher Nocket, POPP’s chief donor, held a community session claiming that POPP is not being aggressive enough in order to prevent bringing the Olympics to Pacechester and suggested that they use more multi-media content. He also threatened to remove their funding if they did not start a campaign that is more aligned with his vision and beliefs.
“I don’t believe they’re scare tactics, and some people can take them that way but we tried to get to people emotionally and get them hard facts,” said Danielle May, a representative of POPP at their press conference addressing what they have done to improve their campaign and address the IOC.

During the press conference, representatives stated that they don’t believe that Pacechester’s community was ever fit to have the Olympics and would essentially do more harm than good.
“We’re here for the community so any other disasters that try to come in to our community, we will try to stop,” said May. “Citizens can come to us and we’ll be there to fight for them.”
