Update: Pacechester Water Returns to Safe Levels

Mayor Ah Soon announced that Pacechester’s water has returned to normal turbidity levels, after measuring higher than normal the previous month.

Ah Soon released a statement to residents thanking them for their cooperation during the crisis and volunteers who staffed water distribution centers and their clinic. The mayor told residents they will stay focused on the water in the future, saying,

“We are a strong community, and we have shown more than once that we are all capable of getting through anything together. The improvement to the drinking water is the first willing step that our community and the mayor’s office is taking to ensure that our infrastructure remains as strong as ever.”

Village residents had been under advisory from the mayor’s office to avoid drinking the water and boil it if necessary since October 17th. Turbidity levels had previously measured at almost double the legal level, with adenovirus levels exceeding their limits as well. The higher than normal levels were believed to have been caused by high manganese levels from groundwater and natural sediments in the Choate Pond.

Ah Soon voiced their commitment to residents, saying,

“We promise that our commitment to the health and well-being of Pacechester will never waver as we work towards a better community for all of our residents.”
